Looking Back to 1984. Martin Gore of Depeche Mode in our first item of clothing. :) Design by Terry Ryan.
Blast from the past, 1984.
With several members of the Westward Bound team dancing the night away to Depeche Mode at the O2 Arena in London, on Wednesday night, our minds wandered back to the early years of this amazing English band.
Our first garment from way back in 1984. The “Dominatrix” T.Shirt designed by the late Terry Ryan, worn by the lovely Martin Gore of Depeche Mode on the UK’s Top of the Pops.
Der Putsch was part of our trail blazing adventure within the world of London’s fetish nightlife, 1983 -1993. It was to set the template for other fetish clubs to follow, morph into Westward Bound and what we do today. All part of the journey, see our provenance for more details.
We only ever produced 100 of each design, each by a different artist. Over 33 years later, the policy of expression and exclusivity still remains a keystone of Westward Bound’s philosophy.
Pleased to say that Martin, an old friend of our founder Steve Beech, was one of our first ever customers.
Martin acquired all four designs of the limited run art T.shirts that we produced in the mid 1980’s.
A neat investment and glorious moment in time.
Fun. 🙂
We love Depeche Mode at Westward Bound.
