EU GPSR Compliance

EU General Product Safety Regulation – Westward Bound Compliance

Westward Bound is committed to meeting the applicable requirements of the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), Regulation (EU) 2023/988, for products we make available to customers within the European Union.

As a British designer and manufacturer selling directly to customers in the EU, Westward Bound provides the manufacturer, product identification, safety and EU Responsible Person information applicable to our products.

The EU General Product Safety Regulation establishes requirements relating to consumer product safety, traceability, product identification and the information that must accompany products offered for sale within the European Union.

For products offered through online or other distance sales, Article 19 of Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires specified information to be clearly and visibly displayed. This includes manufacturer contact details and, where the manufacturer is established outside the European Union, the name, postal address and electronic address of the EU Responsible Person. Product identification and applicable warnings or safety information must also be provided.

Westward Bound Product Compliance

Westward Bound garments supplied to customers within the European Union are subject to the applicable requirements of:

  • EU General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988.
  • Applicable product identification, traceability and safety-information requirements.
  • REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 where applicable to materials and components used in our garments.

Where applicable, metal components intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin comply with the nickel-release requirements of Entry 27 of Annex XVII to REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.

Entry 27 specifically covers relevant components used in garments, including rivet buttons, tighteners, rivets, zippers and metal marks. EN 1811:2023 provides the reference test method for nickel release from articles intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin.
